Machine is an agency made up of 110 individuals. From studio to dev to client service, management and the call centre, each person’s unique role is important to the healthy and productive functionality of our company. And that’s a lot of uniqueness. A lot of individuality. That’s 110 distinctive points of view, 110 opinions, 110 one-of-a-kind personalities, working together to create what Machine is, two years later. Our company cannot be defined by a name or a CI or a colour scheme, it’s far, far bigger than that. It’s the people that really define it.
So when Machine turns 2 years old, it’s really 110 Machine employees who are celebrating their 2nd birthday
To celebrate this we shot a crazy-fun portrait of each employee and asked to name something that signified their last two years at Machine. Whether it was putting the ‘action’ in Jackson, being the office Unicorn, or winning break through agency of the year, each person described their special "Machine moment'. The whole studio then helped out and illustrated over the portraits using the Machine CI colours, creating a visually exciting, humorous image, telling the story of the last two years. The portraits were printed onto sugar paper and iced onto 110, 15cm square, CI-colour adhering birthday cakes.
On our big day we threw a birthday party where each employee was given their customised Face Cake. To spread the excitement, we built an app that connected to the staff's social media accounts and gave people the chance to write and share a birthday message for Machine. The app automatically posted their face cake image to twitter, took over their facebook profile picture and populated a microsite with all images and posts that used the hashtag #HB2M and #FaceCake.
